Trench Box & Shoring Calculator
OSHA 1926.652 requires a protective system — a trench box, shoring, or sloping the walls — for any excavation 5 feet (1.5 m) or deeper, unless it is cut entirely in stable rock. A competent person must inspect the trench daily.
